Este humedal de la Laguna del Cañizar ha sido recuperado recientemente después de 3 siglos desecado por ser considerado en su momento un foco propagador de enfermedades. Ahora, gracias a mucho trabajo, está volviendo a recuperar todo su explendor, y quiere volver a ser lo que fue en su día: uno de los humedales más grandes de España.
Las grullas, así como muchas otras aves, ya han dado su visto bueno, y se cuentan por miles en su época de paso. Este va a ser sin duda un lugar con un incalculable valor ornitológico.
